Offered here is a 1995 Volkswagen Polo Harlekin, a rare and iconic piece of 1990s VW heritage, finished in its unmistakable factory multi-colored patchwork exterior over a black interior. Showing 202,968 kilometers (~126k miles) and powered by a 1.4-liter 8-valve petrol engine paired with a manual transmission, this example remains a largely untouched, original car and a true survivor of one of Volkswagen’s most unique special editions.
This Polo Harlekin is one of the few that still wears its original colors proudly. Based on the Mk3 Polo and created as a limited run, the Harlekin was never meant to be subtle. The vibrant mix of Tornado Red, Ginstergelb, Pistachio Green, and Chagall Blue panels was applied at the factory, and this particular car still sports its authentic livery without aftermarket tampering or repainting. The bodywork is in very good condition for its age, with only minor scuffs consistent with over 200,000 km of careful use, and it remains a standout on any street.
The interior features its factory-correct blue leather steering wheel and the original Harlekin gear knob. The black cloth bucket seats with color-accented inserts are period-correct and well-preserved, with only slight wear visible on the driver’s seat bolster. Despite its playful exterior, this Harlekin has been owned by only two individuals from new, including a lady owner for the past decade, which speaks to its careful stewardship.
Mechanically, the 1.4L 8V engine is described as a strong performer. The seller notes a 927-mile journey from Germany to Ireland completed without issue—evidence of its reliable nature and solid mechanical condition. It is not equipped with air conditioning, in keeping with the stripped-down, lightweight nature of the Polo of this era.
