This 1998 Lotus Elise S1 is an early example finished in Green over a black leather interior, showing 20,412 miles. Its 1.8-litre Rover K-series engine is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. It is now offered by Open Air Imports in Cranfield, England, with an 18-photo gallery.

The green paintwork is set off by alloy wheels and spot lamps, and the car comes with its original hard top as well as a black mohair soft top. As an early car it retains the MMC brake discs, and the registration number R111 LTS is included in the sale.

The black leather cabin is fitted with carbon door cards, carbon alloy switches, winders and handbrake lever, and a canvas luggage compartment bag.

The seller reports two owners, the last of whom bought the car in 2001 and stored it off the road until 2022, when it was recommissioned with a full service, new tyres, a battery, a brake master cylinder, braided brake hoses, a water pump, upgraded headlights and a reconditioned alternator. Modifications are disclosed plainly: fast road camshafts, a 52mm throttle body, an induction kit, Eliseparts upgraded gear-linkage bushes, an uprated front anti-roll bar and AVO adjustable dampers and springs. Toyo tyres were fitted in 2022, and a workshop manual is included.

The Elise was launched at the 1995 Frankfurt show on an epoxy-bonded extruded aluminium chassis that rewrote lightweight sports-car engineering. With the 118 bhp Rover K-series mounted behind the seats and a kerb weight little over 700 kg, the S1 remains the purest expression of the model.
