This 1995 Rover Mini was built to fast-road specification around eight years ago and has covered 9,050 miles since completion. Finished in Tartan Red with a black roof, it was stripped to a bare shell and restored before the performance build began, using what the seller describes as the best available parts throughout. The build is fully documented in the history file. It is now offered by Open Air Imports with a 79-photo gallery.
The body was fully stripped and restored to create the base for the project, then painted Tartan Red with a black roof. It rides on 12x6 Revolution wheels with four new Yokohama A539 tyres. The seller discloses no body or paint flaws.
Inside, the car carries a roll cage, Cobra bucket seats with matching rear seats and door cards, new headlining and carpets, centre clocks with an additional rev counter, and Sparco belts. The heated front windscreen is fitted but currently not connected — the seller discloses this.
The Bill Richards 1293cc engine is paired with a rebuilt four-speed gearbox running a 3.4:1 final drive and a KAD quickshift. Induction is via an HIF44 carburettor with Megajolt electronic ignition, breathing through a three-branch manifold, with an alloy radiator fitted. Suspension is fully adjustable for camber, damping, and ride height, with gas shocks, a rear anti-roll bar, four-pot alloy front calipers on vented discs, and MiniFin alloy rear drums. The seller reports the car drives very well and notes a professional build to this standard would cost over £30,000 today.
The fast-road Mini is its own discipline in Britain — a road car engineered with race-shop logic, built to be driven hard rather than polished. Bill Richards is among the respected names in that world, and a documented, freshly built example with 9,050 miles on the work is the right way to buy into it.
