This 1990 Rover Mini Cooper RSP is a 35,800-mile example finished in red with a white roof, bonnet stripes, and mirrors. The last owner kept it for 22 years, covering just 2,500 of those miles, and stored it in a dry garage. The seller describes it as an unmodified, all-original-panels time-warp car. It comes with a thick history file showing every MOT from new, the original book pack, and both sets of keys, and it is now offered by Open Air Imports with a 59-photo gallery.
The red paintwork is reported in excellent order, which the seller attributes to the dry storage, and the car wears four new Yokohama 165 tyres. Bonnet stripes, white roof, and Minilite-style alloy wheels are correct RSP equipment. The seller discloses no body or paint flaws.
The interior is described as immaculate, again credited to the sheltered storage, with no modifications from standard.
John Cooper's outfit fitted the 1275cc Metro engine to create the RSP, paired with a four-speed manual. The seller reports the car drives very well. The 22-year keeper added only 2,500 miles, and the full MOT history from new backs the 35,800-mile total.
The RSP — Rover Special Products — was the car that brought the Cooper back. With no Mini Cooper built between 1971 and 1990, John Cooper's 1990 run of 1,050 UK-market cars proved the demand, and the Cooper stayed in production for another decade until the BMW MINI arrived. Unmodified, low-mileage RSPs are the reference point for the breed.
