This 1984 Ford Sierra 2.0 GL is finished in red over a grey velour interior, showing just 24,730 miles. An exceptionally original early Sierra, it pairs the 2.0-litre Pinto engine with a five-speed manual gearbox and is now offered by Open Air Imports in Chipping Warden, England.
The seller describes the bodywork as superb and very original, with the correct vented wheel trims almost unmarked and the original dealer number plates still fitted. The underneath and the engine bay were completely restored around 2018, with every nut and bolt replaced, refurbished or restored, and the seller reports they still look superb.
The grey velour cabin is described as fantastic, with a very good dashboard showing none of the cracking these cars usually suffer, the original Ford radio cassette, built-in cassette holders, Ford-branded floor mats and an undamaged rear parcel shelf.
First registered in September 1984, the car has spent long periods in storage since the early 2000s, with lots of SORN notices on file explaining the low mileage. It is MOT and tax exempt and registered as Historic. The seller notes it has very little history, which is disclosed here as they disclose it.
The Sierra replaced the Cortina in 1982 and its aero styling defined the European family car for a decade. Survivors in this condition are almost unheard of — most were worked to death as taxis and reps' cars — which is exactly what makes a 24,730-mile GL in this order interesting.
