This 1978 Volkswagen Käfer 1303 LS cabriolet has been rebuilt from a bare shell at the VW Classic Competence Center Karmann, and is finished in Porsche Tannengrün, a pine green that suits the car well. It shows 1,990 km since the rebuild and carries the German historic H plate.
The 1303 LS was the final development of the Beetle cabriolet, with the 1.6-litre flat four, MacPherson strut front suspension and the curved windscreen that distinguishes the 1303. A bare-shell rebuild by the Karmann competence centre is about as thorough a recommissioning as these cars receive.
The seller describes the rebuild as elaborate and carried out with great care and no compromise on cost, on the basis of a bare shell. The result is a cabriolet that presents as a fresh car while keeping the character of the original.
The car is offered by Göing Motors in Hannover. Beetle cabriolets in this condition, with a documented full rebuild and historic registration, are increasingly difficult to find in Germany.
