This 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ43 is a French-registered 40-series that served as an ambulance, finished in brown with a canvas soft top and in the hands of one owner since 1996. It is powered by a 3.0-litre diesel four-cylinder rated at 80 hp, paired with a four-speed manual gearbox with low range and four-wheel drive. It seats two, is offered in Toulouse on its French carte grise with an invoice file available, and is presented with a five-photo gallery.
The truck is in original, unrestored condition and needs work. The soft top is torn. Equipment includes a front winch, auxiliary driving lamps and a rear-mounted spare wheel, and the load bed is wooden-lined with a wooden chest fitted.
The two-seat cab is trimmed in black vinyl worn consistent with a working life. Behind the mesh bulkhead, the former ambulance body is lined in wood.
The seller reports that the truck runs correctly and can cover any distance. Two points are stated plainly. The odometer is broken, so the mileage cannot be verified; it shows 90,000 km. And the French contrôle technique of 1 October 2026 recorded a major failure. This is an honest, project-grade survivor that runs, not a finished truck.
The 40-series Land Cruiser was built from 1960 to 1984, and the BJ43 paired the medium-wheelbase chassis with Toyota's B-series diesel. French-registered examples are rare, and one-owner-since-1996 ex-ambulance cars rarer still.
