This 1975 Fiat Abarth 124 Sport Rally is finished in white over a black interior, showing 76,739 km. First registered on 4 February 1975, it still retains its original black Italian license plate and its original registration document, a combination the seller notes is extremely rare today. The car carries ASI "Targa Oro" homologation, a FIVA Identity Card, and an FIA Historic Technical Passport classifying it in GT Class H. The seller reports few owners from new and describes the car as having always been preserved with the utmost care, remaining in excellent, well-maintained condition. It is now offered by Open Air Imports with a 30-photo gallery.
The white paintwork is paired with the model's matte black bonnet and widened wheel arches, over lightweight body components fitted by Abarth for rally use. The gallery shows the car wearing its black hardtop, and a separate rally bonnet panel with faired-in lamp pods is photographed with the car. The seller's specification lists a black soft top. The seller discloses no specific paint or body defects; as with all of the dealer's vintage stock, the car is offered under standard vintage-car terms, sold as seen consistent with its age and mileage.
The black interior carries the full sports instrumentation, sport steering wheel, and dedicated seats that were standard Abarth equipment on the Rally. The seller describes the car as preserved with the utmost care throughout its life, and the cabin presents accordingly in the gallery photographs.
The 1,756 cc Lampredi twin-cam four-cylinder (engine type 132AC4.000) was extensively tuned by Abarth with a high-performance cylinder head, optimized intake system, and lightweight components, producing over 120 horsepower in road trim. Power goes to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. The chassis specification includes a reinforced sport suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. The seller reports that the car has always passed its mandatory biennial technical inspections, and the current inspection is valid until December 2026.
The documentation is a central part of this example's appeal. In 2006 the car received ASI "Targa Oro" homologation, among the highest recognitions granted by the Automotoclub Storico Italiano, confirming the car's conformity to its original factory specifications, along with a Certificate of Historical Significance. The FIVA Identity Card was issued the same year, and in 2008 the FIA issued the Historic Technical Passport in GT Class H, making the car eligible for international historic racing and rally events. Offered with its original black plate, original registration document, and the ASI, FIVA, and FIA paperwork described above.
The 124 Sport Rally was developed by Abarth's racing department from the Fiat 124 Sport Spider specifically for international rally competition, and was built in limited numbers between 1972 and 1975 to satisfy Group 4 homologation. Independent rear suspension, lightweight panels, and the twin-cam engine set it apart from the standard Spider, and the model went on to win the 1975 European Rally Championship. Examples that keep their first registration plates, original documents, and complete historic certifications are the ones collectors look for, and they seldom come to market.
