This 1975 Alpine A310 1600 VF is finished in metallic champagne, its original factory colour, over a blue cloth interior, showing an indicated 75,000 km. It was first registered in Mantua in 1975 and re-registered in 1979 on a Siena plate that remains on the car, and it is accompanied by its original registration document. It is now offered by Open Air Imports with a 30-photo gallery.
The current owner, described by the seller as an experienced collector of 1970s sports cars, found the car abandoned in 2009 but fundamentally very original, and undertook a full restoration back to original aesthetic and mechanical specification: a repaint in the factory metallic champagne, the blue cloth interior restored, and the engine, transmission, systems, bodywork and chassis all overhauled. The seller discloses one deviation from original specification: the car's rare original fuel-injection system was replaced during the restoration with twin-choke carburettors, for a sportier response and simpler maintenance. The original injection system survives and is included in the sale.
The blue cloth interior was restored to original specification. The car holds ASI homologation with the ASI Targa Oro awarded in 2011.
The 1,605 cc Renault-derived four-cylinder sits behind the seats and drives the rear wheels. Since the restoration the car has covered only about 100 km, just enough to keep it functioning; the seller reports it has always been moved by trailer, never exposed to rain or damp, and is kept in concours condition.
The A310 was Alpine's move upmarket from the A110, a glassfibre-bodied 2+2 on a steel backbone chassis, and the 1600 VF's fuel injection made it one of the quickest French cars of its year. Restored cars that keep their original registration document, their first-province history and the removed injection system with them are seldom offered.
