  • This 1969 Daimler 2500 V8 Saloon is finished in dove grey over a bordeaux leather interior, showing 82,800 miles. It is a right-hand-drive, English-origin car, regularly registered in Italy, and is powered by Daimler's 2.5-litre V8 paired with an automatic transmission. It is now offered by Open Air Imports with a 30-photo gallery.

The seller describes the body as being in excellent original preservation, very solid and free of rust, with panels in excellent original condition that have never been welded or replaced. The car was imported into Italy in mid-2018 by an enthusiast collector who set out to perfect it, and the brightwork's small parts have been re-chromed.

The bordeaux leather cabin has been renewed in its consumables rather than replaced: a full set of door rubber seals, a headlining and sun visors in original wool, red velvet seal sets, polished woodwork and fully replaced carpets are listed by the seller.

The 2.5-litre V8 has had extensive recent mechanical work, according to the seller: a brake system overhaul with master cylinder, calipers, pads and pipes, a new stainless-steel exhaust, new coolant and heater hoses, a new belt, new filters, distributor, wiring, leads, points and plugs, a new battery, new steering column bushes, steering and kingpin ball joints, new dampers and new Vredestein tyres. The seller reports that the engine runs very well, quietly and without smoke, starting first time after weeks idle, that the automatic gearbox shifts smoothly, and that the power steering has no leaks or noises.

The V8 saloon paired Edward Turner's 2.5-litre V8 with the Jaguar Mk2 bodyshell, giving Daimler a compact luxury saloon with a character quite different from its Coventry sister cars. Right-hand-drive examples that have kept original, unwelded bodywork are the survivors collectors look for.
