This 1962 Triumph TR4 is finished in British Racing Green over a black vinyl interior, showing 19,700 km. The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate records that it was built in November 1962 and shipped to the Standard Triumph branch in Los Angeles on 20 November 1962, originally registered in the United States. It was imported into Italy in 1990 and registered in Parma in 1992. It is now offered by Open Air Imports with a 30-photo gallery.
The Heritage certificate confirms the car's original equipment is still present: 60-spoke wire wheels, overdrive, heater, sun visors and tonneau cover, along with a wood-rim Moto-Lita steering wheel and a black soft top. The seller discloses the car's recent pattern of use plainly: it covered under 30 km between its 2021 inspection and the current one, and the dealer advises allowing for the recommissioning maintenance normally needed after such limited use. Its last inspection was passed in June 2024.
The black vinyl cabin carries the wood-rim wheel and the full original equipment listed above. The car received ASI homologation at the Targa Oro grade, the highest ASI awards, in 1993, supported by a 1990 manufacturer certificate of technical characteristics issued for its Italian homologation.
The 2,138 cc four-cylinder is rated at approximately 100 hp in standard specification and is paired with a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, fitted to this car from new. The first Italian owner kept the car 13 years, a second held it from 2005 to 2007, and the current seller, a classic car and motorcycle enthusiast, has kept it for 18 years. The seller describes it as in good working order.
The TR4 replaced the TR3A with Michelotti styling, wind-up windows and a larger 2.2-litre engine option in period, and US-delivered cars with a Heritage certificate confirming their surviving original equipment, overdrive included, sit at the top of the TR4 market.
