  • This 1962 Austin Mini Countryman is a left-hand-drive Mk I 'Woodie' estate showing 40,467 km, finished in grey with timber framing over a red leather interior. The seller reports a complete restoration in 2012, documented with photographs, and fewer than 12,000 km covered since. The car is on Belgian papers and has had one owner since 2012. It is now offered by Open Air Imports with a 15-photo gallery.

The Countryman rides on a wheelbase a little over 10 cm longer than the saloon's, with twin rear doors and a folding rear bench, making it the most versatile of the early Minis. The timber-framed rear body is the feature that defines the Woodie, and on this car it presents as shown in the gallery following the restoration.

The interior is trimmed in red leather, front and rear, with the central speedometer and painted metal dashboard of the Mk I. The load bay is flat-floored and carpeted, with the spare wheel carried below.

The 848-cc A-series engine is the car's matching unit, and the seller reports excellent engine compressions. The seller describes the car as very well maintained and in very good overall condition.

The Countryman and its Morris Traveller twin were the estate versions of Issigonis's original design, and the timber-framed Mk I is the most desirable of them. Restored, left-hand-drive examples on European papers are rarely offered.
