This 1960 Daimler SP 250 Dart is finished in metallic silver over a black leather interior. The odometer reads 549 km; that figure is published here as an odometer reading only, as the car's total mileage is not documented. According to the seller, the car was produced on 25 March 1960 for the Daimler Corporation of Baltimore and shipped to the United States on 1 April 1960. It is now offered by Open Air Imports with a 30-photo gallery.
The fibreglass bodywork is finished in metallic silver with a black fabric soft top, and the car rides on wire wheels. The seller reports that the car spent its life in the United States until the early 2000s, when an Italian collector bought it and had a full restoration carried out in Italy. It was registered in Italy in 2013 in the name of its last owner.
The interior is trimmed in black leather. A Jaguar Daimler Heritage Certificate obtained in 2014 confirms matching chassis and engine numbers, and a folder of information, technical details and photographs of the car's original condition accompanies the sale.
The 2,500 cc V8 is paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Over the last 12 years the seller reports regular and extraordinary maintenance documented by specialist invoices totalling about 14,000 euros, including steering box work, a full gearbox overhaul with a new primary shaft, synchromesh, second and reverse gears, rollers and bearings, a new water pump, a brake and caliper overhaul, a full rear-axle overhaul and a limited-slip differential conversion.
The SP250 was Daimler's fibreglass-bodied sports car, built around Edward Turner's 2.5-litre hemi V8 and aimed squarely at the American market this car was delivered to. Fewer than 2,700 were built before production ended in 1964.
