This 1947 Fiat 1100 Sport Stanguellini is an evocation, a reconstruction completed in 2023 on a genuine 1947 Fiat 1100 chassis, and it is titled as an Evocation. It is not an original period Stanguellini-bodied car. The Centro Storico FIAT and FIAT Classiche confirm the chassis was a long-wheelbase Fiat 1100 produced on 23 May 1947 for the Turin market. No mileage is recorded for the car. It is now offered by Open Air Imports with a 30-photo gallery.
The red bodywork was recreated by expert panel beaters using the measurements of the original tubular substructure as the geometric reference, as part of a long reconstruction by the current owner that began in 2015 and was completed in 2023, documented by an extensive photographic record of every stage: chassis, body, paint preparation and painting, mechanics, electrics and trim. The car retains its last registration, a 1954 Palermo plate, and was never deregistered; its registration document still reads Fiat 1100 Sport Stanguellini.
The red interior was recreated as part of the same reconstruction. From 1988 the car belonged to two Palermo collectors until 2015. The chronological extract notes that flooding of the historic archive damaged the volume covering this registration, so ownership changes before digitisation cannot be reconstructed.
The 1,089 cc Fiat 1100 four-cylinder was sourced by the current owner and fully rebuilt with complete machining and replacement of all wear components, and an original Stanguellini gearbox is fitted. All schedules, invoices and documentation from the specialists involved in the reconstruction are available. The dealer states plainly that insufficient historic documentation exists to obtain ASI or FIVA certification for the car.
Stanguellini built its reputation on Fiat-based sports racers in the immediate post-war years, and this evocation follows that template on a period chassis with a documented modern reconstruction.
