This 1925 Peugeot 172R is finished in green over a black leather interior. Its 719 cc four-cylinder engine is rated at 16 hp and drives the rear wheels through a three-speed manual gearbox, and the seller's specification sheet records 1 km. The car has been fully restored, and it is now offered by Open Air Imports in Nijlen, Belgium, with a period doctor's bag included and a 30-photo gallery.
The seller reports that great care was taken during the restoration to preserve the car's authentic character, and that the original engravings and markings remain present. The folding convertible roof opens fully, and the car carries its spare wheel on the side, brass bulb horns and a Peugeot lion bonnet mascot.
The cabin is trimmed in black leather with varnished wood door cappings, a wood-rimmed steering wheel and a brass instrument panel. There is no luxury equipment of any kind, in keeping with a car of 1925: simple mechanical controls and a narrow bonnet ahead of the driver.
The seller presents the car as being in truly beautiful condition following its complete restoration, and suited to historic rallies, club drives and classic-car events as well as a collection.
The 172R sat in Peugeot's small-car range of the mid-1920s, a lightweight 5CV-class car built at Beaulieu. Cars of this age survive in small numbers, and few are presented in restored, usable condition.
